The Boox Palma 2 has arrived as an improved version of the original Boox Palma. This compact e-reader also functioned as a smartphone. While the new model may look identical to its predecessor, it brings significant upgrades, addressing some of the shortcomings of the first version. One of the key enhancements is the addition of an upgraded eight-core processor, promising faster performance for daily tasks. Additionally, Palma 2 runs on Android 13, a step up from the Android 11 found on the original Palma, offering a more updated user interface and functionality. However, it isn’t the latest Android version. Another notable feature in the Palma 2 is a fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button for more accessible and secure unlocking. The rest of the hardware remains the same as the Palma 1, featuring a 6.13-inch E Ink Carta 1200 screen equipped with Boox’s Super refresh technology.
Users will also find dual speakers, a programmable bright button, and a 16MP rear-facing camera. In terms of storage, the device includes a microSD card slot, and it’s powered by a 3,950 mAh battery. The Boox Palma 2 is available in black and white color options, with pricing starting at $280 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. Pre-orders are open on Boox’s official website, and the original Boox Palma is now discounted to $246. Boox also announced two new products: the Note Air4 C and the Note Max. The Note Air4 C features a 10.3-inch Kaleido 3 E Ink color display with stylus support, an eight-core chipset 50% faster than its predecessor, and runs Android 13. Priced at $500, it is available for pre-order. The Note Max, a 13.3-inch monochrome e-ink tablet, comes with an A4-sized E Ink Carta 1300 display. However, pricing and availability have not been announced yet.
