Bodies of Naxalites found by Security Forces
In Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region, the bodies of three more Naxalites were recovered following a fierce encounter with security forces, raising the death toll to 31
The encounter, which took place on Friday, involved a joint operation by the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF) in the dense forest between the villages of Nendur and Thulthuli on the Dantewada-Narayanpur inter-district border. According to Inspector General of Police (Bastar range) Sundarraj P, the deceased Naxalites are believed to be members of PLGA (People’s Liberation Guerilla Army) Company No. 6, Platoon 16, and the East Bastar division of the Maoists.
The operation is one of the most significant blows to the Maoists in recent history, with 188 Maoists killed in the Bastar region this year. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai praised the security forces for their success, emphasizing the state’s commitment to eliminating the Naxal threat. A significant cache of weapons, including an AK-47, SLR, and other rifles, was also seized at the encounter site. The operation followed a similar encounter in April when 29 Naxalites were killed in Kanker.
