BJP terms Kejriwal as eligible only for clown shows
Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva criticized AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal regarding Swati Maliwal’s assault charge, calling it a political drama. The incident involved Bibhav Kumar, an AAP Rajya Sabha member, who was arrested for allegedly assaulting Maliwal at Kejriwal’s residence. Sachdeva questioned AAP’s conclusion that the BJP was involved, emphasizing that the assault happened at Kejriwal’s home and was confirmed by AAP MP Sanjay Singh. Despite her long association with him and the party, Sachdeva accused Kejriwal of remaining silent on Maliwal’s plight. He alleged that Kejriwal was more concerned about Kumar’s arrest because Kumar knew about Kejriwal’s alleged wrongdoings and corruption. Maliwal, an AAP functionary, reported the assault on May 13, leading to Kumar’s arrest and a five-day police custody order.
Sachdeva claimed that the assault case exposed Kejriwal’s so-called ideology, branding it as “bogus” and accusing Kejriwal of being driven by “loot and corruption.” Kejriwal countered that the BJP and the Prime Minister’s efforts to dismantle AAP through arrests would fail, as AAP represents a widespread thought influencing millions. BJP functionary Shehzad Poonawala demanded that Kejriwal address specific questions instead of engaging in drama. He questioned whether Kejriwal ordered the attack on Maliwal, why CCTV footage is missing, and if Kejriwal helped tamper with evidence. Poonawala also asked why AAP shifted its stance from Sanjay Singh’s initial statements and accused the party of victim-shaming Maliwal. He suggested that Kejriwal might be protecting Kumar due to potential dark secrets Kumar holds about him. Sachdeva and Poonawala’s accusations centre on allegations of political drama, corruption, and the mishandling of the assault case, pressing Kejriwal to break his silence and provide clear answers.
