Attack on Indian High Commission: NIA names three suspects
Attack on Indian High Commission: National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken charge of the investigation of the London incident where a group of Khalistani supporters vandalised Indian High Commission in UK and disrespected the Indian flag. This case was handed over to this agency on April 13 to find out the major perpetrators behind this attack that injured two Indian officials in the embassy, as per Hindustan Times. After a brief intel gathering, NIA has now named three main suspects in that case, who have been identified as Avtar Singh, a.k.a. ‘Khanda,’ Gurcharan Singh, and Gurprit Singh.
Khanda and Gurcharan Singh are said to have provoked the protesting crowd to get violent and vandalise the High Commission, after which they threw the flag and ultimately injured two officials during the act. Khanda’s parents were also identified to be part of the Pakistani ISI-sponsored pro-Khalistani movement in Punjab in the 1990s. Quite recently, India’s foreign office strongly raised this issue with the UK government, which initially hesitated to act on this matter. As a response, GoI removed the barricades from outside the UK Embassy in India. Having received India’s stern message, the UK government has now tightened Indian High Commission’s security in London.
