Atishi appears on the right path for addressing the tragic plight of UPSC Aspirants
Delhi Minister Atishi is taking possible steps to act in favor of the UPSC Aspirants since realizing their tragic plight. Set to introduce legislation to regulate Coaching Outlets
Atishi emphasized the need for this regulatory framework during a press conference, where she also discussed the findings of an interim inquiry and a preliminary report by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). The investigation revealed that coaching centers in Rajinder Nagar had illegally encroached on a drain, causing severe waterlogging. The minister highlighted that these coaching centers were operating in basements and had established libraries, both of which are illegal under current regulations. In response to the Rajinder Nagar incident, the Delhi government has sealed the basements of 30 coaching centers and issued notices to 200 other institutes. Atishi stated that a magisterial inquiry had been launched to determine which officials ignored complaints about these coaching centers’ illegal use of basements.
The Delhi government has conceptualized a committee that includes officials and select students from the coaching outlets to develop comprehensive regulations. The interim report indicated these as key issues, the encroachment on the drain by coaching centers, preventing proper drainage, the illegal use of basements for classes and libraries. As a result, the Junior Engineer responsible for overseeing the drain and preventing encroachments has been permanently terminated from the MCD, and the Assistant Engineer has been suspended. Atishi assured that the magisterial report, expected in six days, would identify those responsible, and strict actions would be taken against them. The Delhi government has already started demolishing illegal encroachments by coaching centers on the drains. Additionally, authorities are taking stringent measures against coaching centers unlawfully running classes and libraries in basements. This regulatory move aims to ensure the safety and compliance of coaching centers, preventing future tragedies and maintaining proper urban infrastructure.
