Anthony Hopkins: Working in ‘Thor’ was ‘Pointless Acting’
Legendary actor Anthony Hopkins has made a big statement on his role as Odin in Marvel’s Thor, calling acting in the film ‘pointless.’ During his recent conversation with New Yorker, he opened up on how working in a CGI-centred movie makes it difficult and inauthentic for an actor to perform in front of the camera. He said, “If you’re sitting in front of a green screen, it’s pointless acting.” He further added that he was simply instructed to sit on the throne and shout. His character was killed off in Thor: Ragnarok, which had received dominatingly good reviews.
This statement by Anthony Hopkins comes soon after another versatile actor, Christian Bale, had made critical statements about working in Thor: Love and Thunder. He called the film highly monotonous and added that he did not apply any of his own method acting techniques for his role as Gorr. The film received mixed reviews and was criticised by many for failing to live up to expectations. The last few films of Marvel Studios witnessed mediocre performances before the recent success of Guardians of the Galaxy 3.
