Amritpal’s Khalistani Group ’Waris Punjab De’ Still Active: Agencies
Security agencies have carried out a major crackdown on the Khalistani group ‘Waris Punjab De’ over the past few months. Its founder and leader, Amritpal Singh, was on the run for a brief period of time before eventually getting caught and being locked up in the Dibrugarh jail in Assam. While his imprisonment has brought the group’s separatist activities to a standstill, agencies have revealed that the outfit is still very much active in Punjab. The state’s home department has prepared a report describing its recent activities, as per Republic.
The report states that the Khalistani group ‘Waris Punjab De’ has been conducting meetings wherein a Gurgaon resident from the NCR region has been attending these meetings. The Intelligence Bureau and Punjab’s Intelligence Department have been closely tracking their activities to continue their crackdown on their network. The report has also stated that the Khalistani group ‘Waris Punjab De’ remains one of the biggest threats to the state’s law and order, despite the situation being largely in control at the moment.
