Amit Shah Slams Opposition in Parliament Speech
Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the Lok Sabha yesterday, wherein he ripped into the Opposition on several issues while also sharing updates on the incidents and situation in Manipur. During his speech, he recalled that PM Modi had called him up at 4 in the morning to seek details of the events unfolding in the state. Shah criticised Opposition politicising Manipur’s viral video saying, “What happened to the two women in Manipur is shameful, but playing politics on this matter is even more shameful,” he said.
Amit Shah described Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Manipur, saying that he refused to take the helicopter and chose to go by road initially for public display before eventually taking the helicopter. He also reminded the Opposition of the extremely volatile conditions of the northeast and other states during their term and that they had to change their alliance name from U.P.A. to I.N.D.I.A. to rebrand themselves and hide their scams and failures.
Furthermore, Amit Shah stated the government’s steps to control violence in Manipur, saying, “For three days, continuously, we worked round the clock. We held 16 video conferences, sent 36,000 CAPF personnel immediately, used air force planes, changed the Chief Secretary and D.G.P., and sent an adviser from Surat; Centre sent the Chief Secretary and D.G.P.” The Opposition had recently brought a No-Confidence motion in the Parliament, which will be addressed by PM Modi soon.
