Shah’s comments came during a ceremony in Ahmedabad, where 188 Hindu refugees from Pakistan were granted citizenship certificates. He criticized past Congress-led governments for delaying refugee citizenship due to appeasement politics.

Shah highlighted the irony that illegal intruders were granted citizenship while those who followed the legal process were denied. The Home Minister assured that the Narendra Modi government would ensure justice for these individuals. He noted that refugees were not only tortured in neighboring countries for their religious beliefs but also faced injustice in India. Shah emphasized the need to address this historical injustice, which spanned three generations. He reiterated the government’s commitment to upholding the rights of these individuals and ensuring they can live with dignity.
