Amit Shah Arrives In Kolkata On Tagore Jayanti To Inaugurate Developmental Projects

9th May marks the birth anniversary of Indian literature great Rabindranath Tagore, who hailed from the state of West Bengal. Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah has arrived in the city of Kolkata on this occasion to inaugurate developmental projects of the Land Port Authority of India and Border Security Force (BSF) after paying tribute to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore statue located in Jorasanko Thakurbari and participate in an event to commemorate the great Indian poet.

These projects are aimed at increasing connectivity and border security, as West Bengal is strategically very important for the country. Amit Shah will further meet their party leaders in the state later in the day to discuss their election strategy, as per Republic. BJP had made major gains in the last General Elections in West Bengal and would be looking to repeat and perhaps even improve their performance in the state. While they could not win the consequent state elections, the upcoming 2024 elections will be vital for the party to increase their vote share, given that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her party TMC still command a massive influence in the state.
