Air India headed to London and returned to Delhi after the reported assault

Air India has constantly remained in the headlines over the past few months for both good and bad reasons. In a very recent update, an Air India flight that was enroute to London had to return back to India after a passenger allegedly assaulted a cabin crew member. As per an ANI report, the flight took off from London at 6:35 am, and the assault took place some while later, which forced the captain to turn the plane around and land back in Delhi.

The passengers got into a verbal fight with the flight staff before getting into a physical altercation as the situation escalated. Their unruly behavior continued despite several warnings, and the flight eventually had to return to Delhi and deboard the passenger. As an added measure, the airline has also registered a complaint with Delhi Airport Police and put out a statement saying, “Safety, security, and dignity of all on board is important to us at Air India. We are providing all possible support to the affected crew members. We regret the inconvenience caused to the passengers and have rescheduled the departure flight for London this afternoon”.

This incident comes soon after a passenger named Shankar Mishra was booked for urinating on a fellow passenger, co-incidentally, on another Air India flight. He was recently granted bail by a sessions court even as the trial continues after Mishra pleaded not guilty to the allegations and continues to fight his case.
