Adah Sharma defends ‘The Kerala Story’ against political criticism
Adah Sharma has been actively promoting her upcoming movie, ‘The Kerala Story,’ which touches on the sensitive topic of conversion to Islam in the state. Its story shows four college girls in Kerala who go through religious conversion and eventually become a part of a terrorist organisation. The movie’s recently released trailer has invited strong criticism from cultural and political leaders, including Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, for showing the state in a bad light and making ‘false claims’ that many women face religious conversion and are eventually recruited by ISIS.
Adah Sharma has responded to these remarks by tweeting, “Many seniors persons in high posts have commented on #TheKeralaStory after watching the 2 minute trailer . My parents have always asked me to respect my elders, so with due respect to all of them i hope they can take 2 hrs out of their busy schedule and watch the movie. I’m sure they will see that we haven’t shown Kerala in any derogatory light. Jai hind.” Directed by Sudipto Sen, ‘The Kerala Story’ will be released this Friday on May 5, 2023.
