A New way to combine multiple exercises into one: EMOM(Every Minute, On The Minute)
An EMOM routine allows for a mix of exercises like push-ups with squats or burpees, offering scalability, flexibility, and the ability to pack a lot into as little as 15 minutes. In this workout formula, known as “every minute, on the minute” (EMOM), one selects exercises for a set number of reps at the beginning of each minute, using the remainder for rest. This cycle continues for the predetermined time, typically 15-20 minutes. For example, one might do 10 push-ups every minute for 15 minutes, with the rest of each minute as rest time. Additional exercises can be added in alternating minutes to create variety.
The only limitation to EMOM training is creativity, as it can be customized based on experience level, goals, and abilities. By adjusting the number of minutes and exercise intensity, EMOM workouts can be tailored for cardio, strength, or muscle building. For beginners, a modest workout could involve 10 push-ups followed by five squats every alternate minute for 16 minutes, gradually adding more exercises over time. Cardio-focused EMOMs may include body-weight movements or machines like the rower or air bike, with varying rep ranges tailored to individual fitness levels and goals. It’s important to prioritize exercises with proper technique and avoid overexertion to prevent injuries and maintain consistency in the routine.
