A big joy to Indians willing to travel to Japan; eVisa now available for India!

Indian passport holders can now travel to Japan without the hassle of physical visa stickers. From April 1, Japan has introduced an eVisa system, a welcome change that eliminates the need for traditional visa stickers. The new and convenient Japan e-Visa program allows individuals to apply for visas online through Japan Visa Application Centers managed by VFS Global. This initiative grants visitors up to 90 days in Japan for tourism. Successful applicants receive electronic visas through the revised system, a digital alternative to the customary visa stickers. The application process remains the same, with applicants still required to submit their applications to Visa Application Centers under VFS Global’s supervision.

Upon arrival at the airport, it’s important for travellers to have their ‘visa issuance notice’ ready on their mobile devices. One must ensure that they have access to the internet for this procedure. It is necessary to remember that any format other than a digital visa issuance notice—such as PDFs, photos, screenshots, or printed copies—will not be considered valid. The eligibility for the eVisa extends to citizens and residents of various countries and regions, including Brazil, Taiwan, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Cambodia, Saudi Arabia, and the USA. This also includes Indian citizens and foreign nationals. Residents of these countries or regions, with exceptions for those exempt from short-term visas, can avail themselves of the eVisa facility through the Japan e-Visa website.
