On National Engineers Day, Mala revealed her challenges in steering him toward engineering. Mala recalled a memorable incident during Kartik’s board exam year when he skipped coaching classes to play video games. She was furious, saying, “I was so angry I wanted to spank him!” his initial interest in engineering was encouraged by Mala, who wanted him to become a doctor or engineer. However, Kartik landed his first role in Pyaar Ka Punchnama, leaving Mala dismayed.

She humorously lamented, “I spent 8-10 years getting him an engineering degree, only for him to drop out!” Mala put her work on hold to support her son’s studies in Mumbai. One amusing story involved him going to an exam at DY Patil College. Instead of focusing on the exam, he worked on the script for Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2. Despite these detours, Kartik successfully transitioned into a prominent actor. With Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 releasing this Diwali, his future projects include Pati Patni Aur Woh 2 and Anurag Basu’s musical love story.
