Samsung has unveiled the industry’s first PCIe 4.0 automotive SSD, the AM9C1, boasting improved power efficiency and faster data transfer speeds. Key Upgrades and Features include up to 50% improved power efficiency, Sequential read speeds of up to 4,400 MB/s (256GB configuration), Sequential writes of 400MB/s (256GB configuration), TLC flash with SLC Namespace feature for enhanced sequential speeds (4,700MB/s reads, 1,400MB/s writes), Capacities ranging from 128GB to 2TB. The AM9C1 prioritizes reliability, meeting AEC-Q100 Grade 2 standards for stable performance in extreme temperatures (-40°C to 105°C). It ensures optimal functionality in demanding automotive environments.
Mass production of the 2TB version is scheduled for early next year, making it the most prominent automotive SSD available. Samsung collaborates with autonomous vehicle makers, solidifying its leadership in the physical AI memory market. “Samsung will continue to lead the physical AI memory market…from autonomous driving to robotics technologies,” said Hyunduk Cho, Vice President and Head of Automotive Group. Following last year’s automotive UFS 3.1 memory production and ASPICE CL3 authentication, Samsung reinforces its commitment to driving automotive innovation.
