Devastating Blaze Engulfs Times Tower Building in Mumbai’s Kamala Mills Compound
A massive fire broke out in the Times Tower building in Mumbai’s Kamala Mills compound on September 6, causing significant damage to the 14-storey commercial building
The blaze, which started around 6:30 am, had not been fully extinguished even after several hours, posing a challenge to firefighting teams. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. The fire ignited in an electric duct between 3rd and 7th floors on the rear side of the building. Firefighters used chisels and hammers to break through locked doors and gain access to the affected areas. Around eight fire-trucks were on the scene including other vehicles. The Kamala Mills compound has a history of significant fires, including a similar incident seven years ago that left 14 people dead.
Residents of the adjacent Parkside residential building described the experience as terrifying, with smoke and flames rising close to their homes. The security men took immediate action to contain the fire using their building’s fire-equipment before any professional help could arrive on the scene. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but initial reports suggest it started in the electric duct. Firefighting efforts are ongoing, with teams working to extinguish the blaze and assess the damage. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety measures and regular maintenance to prevent such devastating fires.
