Oumair Aejaz, a 40-year-old Indian doctor in the US, has been arrested for secretly recording videos and taking pictures of children and adults.

The criminal activity came to light after Oumair Aejazs’ wife approached the sheriff’s office with evidence against him. Aejaz, who specializes in internal medicine, had hidden cameras in changing rooms, bathrooms, and other private areas, capturing thousands of videos, including some of children as young as two years old. Aejaz, who moved to the US in 2011 and is currently on a work visa, has been charged with multiple counts of child sexually abusive activity, capturing images of unclothed persons, and using a computer to commit a crime. He is being held on a $2 million bond at the Oakland County Jail. So far, 6 desktops, 4 cell phones, and 15 external storage devices containing almost 13,000 videos were seized.

The alleged criminal activity dates back at least six years, with victims ranging from toddlers to grown women. Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard described Aejaz as “one of the worst” perpetrators he has encountered, with a broad range of victims and a high level of perversion. Aejaz’s medical licenses in Michigan and Alabama are under scrutiny, with his Michigan license valid until 2025 and his Alabama license expiring in 2019. The investigation is ongoing, with analysts expected to review the confiscated items for up to six months. Aejaz’s case has raised concerns about the scope of his activities, given his work as a contracted physician at multiple locations. His arrest has sparked widespread outrage and shock, with many calling for swift justice to be served.
