Compromised hygiene at the Indian airports, same trays are used for other bodily stuff, which is also used to place footwear!
Anand Nichani, Managing Director of Magniflex India, recently expressed concern about an “unsanitary practice” at Bengaluru airport.
While going through security check-in, he noticed that passengers used the same trays for their shoes and personal items like phones and laptops. Nichani deemed this practice unacceptable and urged the airport authorities to make dedicated shoe trays mandatory. Nichani took to social media to share his experience, writing, “The same trays that carry our muddy shoes are used for our items at airport security! This is NOT okay!” He emphasized the need for dedicated shoe trays to maintain hygiene standards and ensure a comfortable experience for all travellers.
In response, a representative of Bengaluru Airport stated that hygiene and passenger experience are top priorities, and dedicated shoe trays are positioned adjacent to all X-rays for ease. However, Nichani countered that he found no dedicated shoe trays near his security belt and questioned why this practice was optional. Nichani’s post resonated with other social media users, who also called for more hygienic practices at the airport. They emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness, especially for seniors and people with compromised immune systems. The incident highlights the need for airports to prioritize passenger hygiene and comfort.
