Why refrain women from exhibiting full-fledged Cricket?
Is the current women’s cricket applaudable?
Understanding the statistical attributes is essential before getting sentimental over women’s cricket. Hence, it is necessary to consider the first parameter, the dimensions of the cricket ground, which is the most noticeable factor when discussing cricket. At the same time, men mark records with boundaries set between 65 & 90 Yards, whereas women have to cross between 60-70 yards only. The next noticeable difference is the ball’s size and weight, wherein the ball that ladies play with is set to be smaller and 10-15 grams lighter than that of traditional cricket. A division/category defines the limitedness for dedicating a given sport/activity with such modifications to enable the participants to perform. In such a case, women’s cricket is no different than a sport defined by disabilities, similar to the Paralympics.
Women, on the other hand, mustn’t have laid a means to establish any discussion or even thought over it; even if they did, then playing it with modifications and compromises might not have occurred to them as a question of pride and lack of ability, after-all the same must’ve slid-along to even-it-out in the name of equality. Nobody must’ve noticed the difference between being able to perform the sport by all means and just performing it at any cost, even if it means easing it out. When it comes to determining identical significances for defining the performance of a sport, then tennis and badminton can be considered a practical example. Court dimensions, including the ball, remain the same, wherein women choose bats according to their preferences. One crucial fact is that not all male cricketers have identical strengths and use bats with similar weights. Likewise, the external attributes(ground & ball) can be up-tuned to retain/yield possible interest in women’s cricket and make it more popular than its existing situation.
Strength differs, but it shouldn’t be a call for making it convenient to play!
