A pro-Palestine restaurant owner in Hanoi, Vietnam, expelled a Jewish family, asserting they didn’t accept people from Israel. Dani Namdar, his wife Raizel, and their children visited Train Street when the incident occurred. Namdar shared a video on Instagram explaining the difficulty of addressing anti-Semitism with their three-year-old. He compared the situation to Nazi Germany in 1938 and highlighted the owner’s hostile behavior, which included a sarcastic remark about the safety of their child due to potential Israeli bombings. The cafe displayed a “Free Palestine” poster, and the owner stated they only welcomed humans, cats, and dogs.
Namdar expressed sadness over their child’s exposure to such prejudice and attributed the owner’s attitude to radical ideologies. He noted that this was their sole antisemitic experience in Vietnam, praising the overall friendliness of the people. Despite the incident, Namdar emphasized that the Jewish community maintains its pride and will not let such actions diminish their spirit. The incident sparked varied reactions online, with some netizens applauding the owner’s stance, reflecting the profoundly polarizing nature of the Israel-Palestine conflict.
