Rahul Gandhi in deep trouble for making intolerable remarks on Hindus

A complaint has been filed against Rahul Gandhi in Bihar, accusing him of making inflammatory remarks about Hindus in Parliament

Divyanshu Kishore, a leader of a Hindu outfit, complained to the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court of Muzaffarpur on July 2. The court has accepted the case, with the next hearing scheduled for July 15. The complaint asserts that Gandhi’s statements in the Lok Sabha were deliberately made to hurt the sentiments of Hindus and spread societal hatred. Kishore’s advocate, Sumit Kumar, stated that the case was filed under Sections 299, 302, and 356 (1) of the newly notified Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) of 2023. Section 299 addresses acts intended to outrage religious feelings, Section 302 covers utterances with the intent to wound religious feelings, and Section 356 (1) pertains to defamation.

During his speech in the Lok Sabha on July 1, during the Motion of Thanks, Gandhi criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly promoting violence and hate. He remarked, “Those who call themselves Hindus indulge in hate and violence round the clock.” This statement prompted Prime Minister Narendra Modi to interject, highlighting the gravity of Gandhi’s comments and emphasizing the seriousness of accusing the entire Hindu community of violence. This legal action against Gandhi adds to India’s ongoing political tensions and debates about freedom of speech and religious sentiments. The case’s outcome may have significant implications for political discourse and the limits of acceptable speech within the Indian Parliament. The next hearing on July 15 will determine how the court plans to proceed with the allegations against the Congress leader.
