It’s time to pace-forward with the new-gen Cricket Squad of India
The BCCI has shared photos of the young Indian squad departing for Zimbabwe for a five-match T20I series starting on July 6
Due to Hurricane Beryl in Barbados, key players, including Captain Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh, and Khaleel Ahmed, are stranded. These players were part of India’s T20 World Cup 2024 team. The new team, selected based on IPL 2024 performances, includes Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, Washington Sundar, Tushar Deshpande, Avesh Khan, Ravi Bishnoi, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Dhruv Jurel, and Mukesh Kumar. VVS Laxman, a former Indian cricketer and the current interim Head Coach, is also seen smiling in the pictures shared by the BCCI, indicating his confidence in the new team.
The selected players for the Zimbabwe tour have impressed selectors with their IPL performances. They stepped in after T20I legends Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirements following the World Cup victory. The matches in Zimbabwe will be held at the Harare Sports Club on July 6, 7, 10, 13, and 14, starting at 4:30 PM IST. Sony Sports Network will broadcast the matches live on TV, and online streaming will be available on the Sony-LIV app. The departure of this young squad marks a new chapter for Indian cricket, with these players seizing the opportunity to continue India’s cricketing legacy.
