“Mr & Mrs Mahi,” a sports-drama film starring Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor, made a notable debut at the box office, earning Rs 7 crore on its opening day.

Directed by Sharan Sharma, the film tells the story of Mahima, a doctor who marries Mahendra, a talented but unsuccessful cricketer. Over time, Mahendra discovers Mahima’s hidden cricket talent and decides to train her to become a professional player. The movie also features Zarina Wahab, Rajesh Sharma, and Kumud Mishra in key roles and is produced by Zee Studios and Dharma Productions.

Ahead of the release, Janhvi Kapoor shared behind-the-scenes footage on Instagram, showcasing her playful interactions on set. In the video, she humorously interacts with the cameraman and discusses a personal poem she doesn’t want recorded, reflecting her light-hearted moments during filming. Despite the strong box office performance, “Mr & Mrs Mahi” received mixed reviews. NDTV’s Saibal Chatterjee rated the film 2 out of 5 stars. He praised the performances of the lead actors, noting Rajkummar Rao’s convincing portrayal of Mahendra and Janhvi Kapoor’s ability to oscillate between indecisive and assertive as Mahima. However, he critiqued the film for its portrayal of marital dynamics, which he felt undermined the theme of female empowerment.
