An Entertainment tool from Apple called Vision Pro was used uniquely in India
Dr Mohit Bhandari of Pristyn Care in New Delhi led a pioneering bariatric surgery using Apple’s Vision Pro mixed reality headset in a groundbreaking development. The surgery, conducted in collaboration with Mohak Bariatrics and Robotics, showcased the integration of advanced technology into surgical procedures. The live surgery, which took place at Pristyn Care, involved a sleeve gastric bypass and Single Anastomosis Duodenal-Ileal (SADI) procedure on a patient weighing 155 kilograms. With sleep apnea syndrome and high blood pressure, the patient’s condition required precise intervention.
During the 40-minute surgery on May 17, the Apple Vision Pro provided an immersive 3D environment, allowing the surgical team to focus on intricate details with unmatched clarity. This advanced visualization technology promised enhanced precision, improving outcomes for patients undergoing complex procedures. Vaibhav Kapoor, co-founder of Pristyn Care, emphasized the revolutionary impact of this technological advancement on surgical practices. Dr. Bhandari echoed these sentiments, highlighting the transformative potential of mixed reality technology in enhancing surgical precision and patient outcomes.
This achievement adds to the growing list of medical applications for the Apple Vision Pro headset, including its use in laparoscopic surgery in Chennai and major spine surgeries in the UK. With each successful implementation, the Vision Pro solidifies its position as a game-changer in healthcare, promising to reshape the future of surgical practices worldwide.
