Shah Hinted that Dravid may no more be the Coach
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has announced the forthcoming release of an advertisement for a new head coach as Rahul Dravid’s tenure concludes in June. Dravid, who has led Team India since November 2021 and had his contract extended post-2023 ODI World Cup, won’t receive an automatic extension, necessitating the search for a new coach. While Dravid can apply for the role, there needs to be assurance of his continuation.
Shah hinted at considering Indian and foreign candidates, with the final decision resting with the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC). However, having separate coaches for different formats, a common practice elsewhere seems unlikely in India. Regarding the controversial Impact Player rule in IPL, Shah mentioned ongoing discussions with stakeholders to decide its fate. Despite criticism from players like Rohit Sharma, Shah emphasized the rule’s experimental nature and the need for collective feedback before making any permanent decision.
