US Sleeving-in Peripheral opinion on PM Modi’s upright comment on Terrorists!

The United States has responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s recent statements asserting India’s willingness to take out terrorists inside their homes. The Biden administration emphasized that while it encourages India and Pakistan to avoid escalating tensions and seek a resolution through dialogue, it will not intervene. When asked about Modi’s statement on combating terrorism (“ghar mai ghus ke maarenge”), US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller told reporters, “The United States will not involve itself in this issue, as I have stated before. However, we urge India and Pakistan to avoid escalation and resolve their differences through dialogue.”

Miller was responding to questions about potential Indian operations in other countries to target terrorists. He was also asked whether Modi and Singh’s comments could be seen as admissions of India’s involvement in the deaths of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada, designated terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in New York, and killings in Pakistan. Miller was also questioned about the lack of US sanctions on India over the alleged plot against Pannun. He replied, “I will not discuss potential sanctions, which is not to say they are forthcoming. We do not openly talk about sanctions in advance.”

Earlier this month, Rajnath Singh made strong statements about India’s approach to cross-border terrorism, stating that if terrorists disturb peace in India or engage in terrorist activities, they will face a firm response. Singh also indicated that if terrorists flee to Pakistan, India will pursue them there. At a recent election rally in Uttarakhand, Modi echoed Singh’s stance, stating, “Whenever there has been a weak government in India, our adversaries have exploited the situation. Under this strong government, terrorists are being eliminated on their home turf.”
