India AI Programme to be Launched Soon: MoS Rajeev Chandrashekhar
Minister of State Rajeev Chandrashekhar has announced the India AI programme that will lay the foundation for the growth and development of the Artificial Intelligence ecosystem in Bharat. He spoke in great detail about this programme at a recent Nasscom event, highlighting the impact it will create on the nation’s tech industry. “The India AI programme will be a very well-funded, conceived and architected programme. It will take the focus of our startup ecosystem on real-life use cases in agriculture, security and governance,” he said.
He further added, “Tech must be maximised for its good, innovation and growth. But certainly, there have to be guardrails that deal with the safety, trust, and accountability of the tech platforms. This cannot be a binary conversation where the regulation for safety and trust is so deep and intense that it kills innovation. For us, the priority is really about innovation and making AI the kinetic enabler of the digital economy.” Issues like the building of computing infrastructure and access to data will likely be addressed in India AI programme, whose dates are yet to be announced.
