Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Faces Heat by SC on Pollution Crisis
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is under heavy pressure for the pollution levels in the National Capital that has reached the danger zone. While the major reason behind Delhi’s pollution levels is because of the stubble-burning incidents in Punjab, it is to be noted that Punjab is also governed by Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party under the leadership of Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann. The Supreme Court took cognisance of this matter and heavily criticised the Punjab government’s inaction on stubble burning, which put the target on Kejriwal.
The Supreme Court also ordered the Punjab government to put a complete end to stubble burning, citing that it is their job to do so. In their judgement, the court bashed them, saying that the ‘political football’ on this matter has put the health of the people of Delhi in peril. Furthermore, they also added that many buses in Delhi, which are operating at half capacity, are also responsible for pollution and that the Delhi government needs to take accountability for it. Several BJP leaders welcomed the SC’s verdict and demanded that Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal takes full responsibility for his party government’s inaction on the matter and take decisive actions.
