Poonch Encounter: Security Forces Gun Down 4 Terrorists in J&K
The Indian security forces have announced the success of their Poonch encounter operation, wherein four terrorists from the area have been eliminated. This operation, named Trinetra II, was jointly conducted by Indian Army’s Special Forces, Rashtriya Rifles, and J&K Police, as per ANI. The slain terrorists were reportedly planning a major attack on civilians, and this operation was launched ever since five jawans were killed in the area earlier this year by terrorists ahead of the G20 Summit in Kashmir. The security forces received intel about their hideout and soon sealed off all escape routes of the area before engaging with the terrorists and eventually gunning them down.
The army officials briefed on this Poonch encounter, saying, “The first engagement between security forces took place at around 11.30 pm yesterday, after which drones were deployed along with other night surveillance equipment. At dawn today, the encounter started again with a heavy exchange of fire between the security forces and terrorists.” Unexpected searches of vehicles have been ramped up in Poonch to stifle terror and narcotics infiltration across the LOC as a preemptive measure to avoid any further attacks and loss of human life.
