India vs West Indies: India Crushes the Hosts by an Innings
The first India vs West Indies test match reached its conclusion on Day 3 itself in a one-sided contest. Team India continues its dominating win record in the Caribbean as they won the match with an inning to spare. The Windies batsmen had set a low total of 150 runs in their first innings, which was easily overtaken by their Indian counterparts. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a magnificent ton on his debut, whereas skipper Rohit Sharma also scored a hundred. Virat Kohli kept the scoreboard ticking by scoring 76 runs, and their combined efforts brought India’s core to a mammoth 421.
West Indies gave an underconfident response to Indian bowlers, who kept dismissing their rivals at regular intervals. Except for Raymon Reiffer, who was dismissed for 11 runs, nobody in the top order even managed to reach double digits. Spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja demolished the Windies batsmen by not letting any one of them settle in the middle. Ashwin launched a brutal attack on the batsmen and took seven wickets in this innings, bringing his wicket tally to 12 wickets in this match alone. Jadeja also took two key wickets of Chanderpaul and Reiffer, whereas Mohammad Sirja clinched the wicket of West Indies keeper Joshua Da Silva. India now holds the lead against their rivals in this series.
The second test of India vs West Indies will begin soon.
