US Lawmakers Pledge a Strong Response to Khalistanis
Several US lawmakers have responded to the recent vandalism of the Indian Consulate in San Fransisco, wherein the Khalistani supporters made attempts to set the building on fire. After active protesting against this event by the Indian American community, these lawmakers have promised that they will deal with the vandalisers publicly. Congressman Rich McCormick said on the violent nature of Khalistani protests and making verbal attacks on the Hindu community, “I think it’s racist and it classifies people in a divisive way. I’ve also been very outspoken against any intimidation. We’ll take them on publicly, privately, whatever we need to do because they should never exist right here in America.” as per Republic.
Shri Thanedar, another one of influential US Lawmakers stated, “Attacks on an institution & physical attack, threats to its workers are totally unacceptable. We need to express our disagreements in a democratic and peaceful manner. And I strongly condemn attacks on the Indian embassy. The United States must strongly condemn such attacks and provide the protection these democratic institutions need.” Quite recently, India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval also met his British counterpart, wherein they discussed various measures that can be adopted to counter the rising Khalistani extremism.
