Yevgeny Prigozhin Sends a ‘Thank You’ Note for Wagner Group
Yevgeny Prigozhin took Moscow by storm last week after he attempted a military coup by initiating the ‘March of Justice’ with his Wagner group. However, his attempts were thwarted as the President of Belarus Lukashenko brokered a truce between Vladimir Putin and the group. After Prigozhin called off this coup, he kept a low profile as Belarus promised a safe haven for him in the country. However, he has resurfaced and has expressed his gratitude towards his supporters in the Wagner group for standing by him, as per AP.
In an audio message posted on Telegram, he thanked his supporters and expressed his confidence in their ‘next victories’ at the war front. However, Russia is making sure to shut down all sites and social media pages that are supporting Yevgeny Prigozhin and the Wagner group’s attempt to take over the Russian military and political leadership. While the criminal charges against Prigozhin have been dropped as per the brokered truce, the former American Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has publicly stated that Putin may attempt to assassinate Prigozhin in the future.
