Arnold Schwarzenegger: ‘Terminator’ Predicted Future of AI
Hollywood’s veteran action star Arnold Schwarzenegger gained worldwide recognition early in his career after portraying an assassin robot from the future who is covered by human skin. While speaking at An Evening With Arnold Schwarzenegger, The Terminator star opened up about how the James Cameron-directed film, which was released way back in 1984, had aptly predicted the future of technology and artificial intelligence. “Today, everyone is frightened of it, of where this is gonna go. At that time, we had only scratched the surface of AI,” he said during the event.
He further added, “Think about that. Now over the course of decades, it has become a reality. So it’s not any more fantasy or kind of futuristic. It is here today. And so this is the extraordinary writing of Jim Cameron.” Arnold Schwarzenegger has since reprised the character in multiple instalments and reboots of Terminator that have followed and is still most popularly known for this iconic role. However, he has also starred in several other action films such as Commando, Predator, True Lies, The Expendables 2 and several others. Arnold Schwarzenegger eventually went on to become the Governor of California.
