F1 legend Sebastian Vettel to mentor new German team
Formula One champion Sebastian Vettel is now taking up a mentorship role after retiring from the sport. He will be joining double Olympic sailing bronze medalist Erik Heil in mentoring a new German team called SailGP in the global league of tech giant Larry Ellison, according to AP. While this team is owned by Thomas Reidel, Vettel is also one of the investors, and both of them are expected to be a part of the team management, which will supervise their performance in this league.
Sebastian Vettel said in a statement, “I see a lot of potential as SailGP starts its fourth season and for the first time with a German team. Parallels between sailors and Formula 1 have long existed. The boats are fascinating and the speeds on the water are incredibly high. The races are exciting and I am happy to be close to them with a motivated group of young sailors.” Sebastian Vettel holds exceptional records in Formula One racing. During his 15-year-long illustrious career, he has taken part in four championships and recorded a total of 53 wins before retiring last year. Some of the biggest competitors he has raced for include Ferrari, BMW, Red Bull as well as Aston Martin.
