Maha CM Eknath Shinde: Will name Bandra-Versova Sea Link after Savarkar
Maharashtra CM Eknath Shine recently visited New Delhi for the inauguration of the New Parliament building, where he announced that the Maharashtra government would name the upcoming Bandra-Versova Sea Link after Veer Savarkar. He expressed his dismay over the political attacks that have been made on him and said that there have been “ attempts to malign” Savarkar’s image for political gains, as per Associated Press. “It angers me to see some people deliberately try to malign his image,” he said. Shinde also announced that his government would also set up Swatantryaveer Savarkar gallantry awards.
CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis have been carefully supervising the massive road construction projects in Mumbai. They had recently taken updates on the Trans-Harbour Link, which will be India’s biggest sea bridge and will be inaugurated later this year. It will connect Mumbai to Navi Mumbai and cut the travel time to just 20-25 minutes. Parallelly, the Coastal Road project is also being aggressively pursued with an aim to boost road connectivity and slash traffic time drastically.
