Haryana CM M.L. Khattar announces drug de-addiction centres for state
In a major announcement during the ‘Jan Samvad’ event in Chormar Khera village in Sirsa, Haryana CM M.L. Khattar has promised to open several drug de-addiction centres across the state ahead of the upcoming state election, which is due next year. He further stated that top professionals would be trusted to run these centres to provide guidance to the youth and prevent them from getting into the dark world of drugs. The Chief Minister also announced that Sirsa’s sub-division Dabwali would get its own police station to counter drug peddling with greater force, as per PTI.
Drug addiction among youth has been a growing problem in Haryana, as well as in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. Drug peddling is known to take place at a massive scale in states that border Pakistan, where the narco-nexus operates and infiltrates drugs via Punjab through other North Indian states. Taking cognisance of this matter, Haryana CM M.L. Khattar has thus taken this initiative to provide a counter to this growing threat.
