Is water fasting healthy for you?
Water fasting is a new dieting technique that many fitness enthusiasts are now adopting. While they tend to explore every option that can help them improve their physique, this new method is unusual in nature, where you can’t consume anything but water for days. It is believed to have great health benefits, but Nutrimed nutritionists Nupur Arora and Neha Patodia believe that this type of fasting lasts for about 24-72 hours and should not be observed longer than that without the active supervision of a medical expert.
However, the health benefits of water fasting simply cannot be ignored. It facilitates a process called autophagy, where your body recycles old cells in your body and detoxifies it from potential harm. The nutritionists have also added that it is possible to lose 1 kg per day with this diet. But they have cautioned at the same time that people with diabetes or pregnant ladies should absolutely avoid water fasting. Furthermore, Arora and Patodia have also advised practicing intermittent fasting or alternate day fasting, as the human body is capable of detoxifying on its own, and that water fasting is “completely unnecessary.”
