Non-sugar sweeteners can damage your health: WHO
The food industry has been increasingly using non-sugar sweeteners in their products, looking at the increasing demand for sugar-free food. Many people have started using non-sugar sweeteners in daily beverages like tea or coffee under the impression that they won’t damage one’s health or even help lose weight, but the World Health Organisation argues otherwise. They have recently stated that far from helping you lose weight, these alternative sweeteners can potentially give you type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular problems, or even death in adults.
Having non-sugar sweeteners in large portions is another major reason that causes these health problems. People tend to subconsciously eat or drink these ‘sugar-free’ products in large portions thinking that it won’t make much difference, but it instead likely doubles the damage due to the over-consumption. Health experts believe that health-conscious people must switch to fruits to satisfy their sugar cravings and stick to non-sugar food or beverages. WHO has also urged everyone to begin these healthy practices early in life to make sure that no major health issues occur in the later stages of life.
