The Kerala Story: CM Yogi Adityanath makes the film tax-free in UP
The Kerala Story starring Adah Sharma has invited several political remarks that are both for it and against it. Quite recently, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee announced that this film will be banned in the state to maintain ‘peace and harmony’. However, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has shown his support for the film, declaring that the film will be made tax-free in the state to get more people to watch it.
As per Republic, Yogi Adityanath will also watch the film with his cabinet ministers in a special screening. This news comes after Madhya Pradesh became the first state to lift taxes from this film. The Kerala Story focuses on the sensitive issue of how terrorist organisations like ISIS trap young women by forced religious conversions and recruit them in their activities and also highlights how this practice has taken place on a large scale in the state of Kerala. The makers of this film have also turned to the judiciary to fight against the film’s banning in West Bengal. Directed by Sudipto Sen, The Kerala Story was released on May 5.
