DC vs KKR : Delhi Capitals defeat Kolkata Knight Riders in a low-scoring contest
DC vs KKR : Last night’s match in Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, was dominated by bowlers from both teams. Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bowl first, realising the ground conditions. They managed to pick up Litton Das in the second over, and thereon the entire top and middle order of Kolkata Knight Riders started collapsing thanks to Ishant Sharma, Anrich Nortje. Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel’s mighty efforts. Even the in-form Venkatesh Iyer was dismissed for a duck, and nobody managed to create a long partnership. However, KKR somehow managed to reach 127 runs in 20 overs because of Jason Roy and Andre Russel, who scored 43 (39) and 38 (31), respectively.
While it looked like Delhi would easily chase this target, KKR surprised them with a fierce bowling attack led by Varun Chakravarthy and Ankul Roy, who got two wickets each with respectable economies. Despite having experienced bowlers like Sunil Narine, Umesh Yadav, and Andre Russel, it was captain Nitish Rana who also picked up two wickets himself. Like many others in this tournament, this match also reached its last over. But Delhi ultimately pulled it off thanks to captain David Warner’s quick 57 runs of 41 balls.
The ‘Player of the Match’ award was given to Ishant Sharma, for taking two crucial wickets and conceding only 19 runs in 4 overs. The next match will be played between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
